Medical Marijuana

In the artical, "South Dakota Group Starts Campaign Against Medical Marijuana" written by Chet Brokaw, a group of men and women in the state struggle with unlegalizing medical marijuana for fear it is leading in to more drug addictions and violences. As told by Attorney General Marty Jackley, "The South Dakota medical community has identified safer medical alternatives." Jackley is talking about Dronabinol. Dronabinol uses the active ingredient in marijuana known as THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol). This pill has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and has be proven to work.  If there is an alternative to marijuana that still had the same effect on people and reduces the amount of drug addictions and drug violences, then choosing the pill over the plant is the way to go. Keeping marijuana legalized is giving people more of an opportunity to abuse the drug itself and it's sole purpose. However, revoking the legalization and making marijuana illegal will prevent future situations or issues from a occuring. Revoking it will not take away pain relief for others, it will only lower the options of medical treatment and force patients to use dronabinol, the more safer option.
